Kid Uses Make-A-Wish To Thank Hospital//Arianna Sotero 1st Period

Lucas Hobbs, 12, was battling a stage three cancer known as Hodgkins Lymphoma. He underwent  brutal and extensive therapy and he came out as a champion. Lucas was given a wish from the Make-A-Wish foundation for anything that he wanted. He accepted the offer, but he decided not to use the wish for himself.
Lucas said that he would never forget his inability to enjoy a simple meal in the hospital. "I just did not want to eat at all," he stated. "It was't fun." With this in mind, he came up with a simple idea to give back to the hospital and say thank you for saving his life.
With the help of Make-A-Wish and Minnesota Food Truck Association, Lucas brought together a fleet of food trucks to feed as many doctors, patients, and staff at the Minneapolis Children's Hospital as he could. In an interview with NBC, Lucas said, "When I was sick, people brought me food from our church, and it was really nice of them. So I asked my parents if I could use my wish to serve others. And now I can give back the kindness that everybody gave me when I was sick."

This article was written to show the audience of how caring and hard working this 12 year old is. He had one opportunity to get anything he wanted, and he used his wish to give thanks to the hospital.

I don't believe this article targeted a specific audience, but whoever did read this article was left with a positive influence. It was so inspiring to read about someone so young being so mature and hardworking.  It is definitely different than other news I see on TV/online everyday. It's great to see someone making a difference and being so caring toward others in the midst of all the violence in the media today.
