Dog guards trapped friend by Vern Blossfeld

Summary: On Vashon Island, Washington, it was reported by the state animal shelter that a dog stood guard for almost a week to protect another dog that had fallen. The setter mix, Tillie, only left Phoebe's (the dog that fell) side to attempt to get the attention of people nearby who could help them. The dogs were found the Tuesday after they'd been reported missing by their owners last week. They were cold and hungry but otherwise okay.
Analysis: It's remarkable that the two dogs were able to survive on their own for that long after having been domesticated, and also that Tillie didn't leave Phoebe's side, but instead stayed and tried to get her help. I'm glad that the dogs are okay and that they were able to get the help they needed before it was too late. I bet their owners are happy, too!!
