"Delta State professor fatally shot; campus on lockdown as manhunt continues for 'active shooter'"

Delta State history professor Ethan Schmidt was found dead in his office. The campus is currently on lock down as they hunt for the active shooter. The main suspect is Shannon Lamb, an old social science professor from Delta State as well, who is suspected for another shooting case as well. Police believe the two events are connected in some way.

First off, I hope they catch the shooter, Shannon Lamb or not. I find it very suspicious that within the hour Shannon Lamb reported the shooting in Gautier, and then Delta State shuts down campus. It seems kinda odd that she would report the death of the other woman herself if she had done it. Maybe it was a tactic to draw attention away? Either way, events like this continue to happen, yet gun laws remain the same. I don't know exactly what should be done for gun laws, but something needs to happen, or more innocent people will end up dead. Lots of times there is very little motive behind shootings, and we need to figure out a way to prevent this.

  1. I agree. I understand why some people would want a gun for protection but there has to be point of limitation set in place to prevent innocent people getting hurt.

  2. If no one was allowed to have guns then there would be no need for them because the people shooting wouldn't have access to them. We feel we need to protect ourselves but that is why police officers have them.
