In the Civil War Battle of the Ironclads took place March 1862 in sea. The USS Monitor had a short period of time before sinking on December 31, 1862. There were 62 crew members on board; 16 either drowned or sinked, while others were rescued. In 2002 the remains of the ship were recovered and so were two sailors. Although they are not 100% sure what their identification is authorities are trying there best to recover any clues. We know that these sailors faught for their country and were buried with a proper military honor.
I believe this is a great thing not leaving their remains behind and being history. To take the initiative to identify these sailors and notify there families.
