Teen Sues DMV

South Carolina 16 year old, Chase Culpepper, has filed a federal lawsuit against the state Department of Motor Vehicles after being forced to remove his everyday makeup for his license picture. The DMV claims he may not wear makeup because it is an attempt to disguise his appearance, even though Chase regularly dresses in women's clothing and make up. The Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund requested that the DMV allow Chase to retake the license picture, but the DMV has yet to resolve the issue.

Chase should be aloud to express himself in the way he so desires. If that be by wearing female attire and make up, then so be it. It's not attempting to disguise himself if that is who he truly is. By not allowing him to wear the make up, they are almost masking him to someone he is not. They are violating his basic human rights by requiring him to remove the make up.

I agree with you all the way! People should be allowed to express themselves in not only how they act, but what they wear. If Chase had been dressing inappropriately, I would have had a different opinion, but in this case I believe it's fine. Chase needs to retake the picture and all will be well.
