Teen from Colorado is guilty in trying to join ISIS by: Mikaela Carrillo
A plan to join ISIS and be a nurse at a jihadist camp comes to an end on Wednesday, when Shannon Maureen Conley pled guilty to a terror charge in a Colorado federal court. The 19 year old Conley was about to embark on a dangerous trip to Germany where she would make her way to an ISIS camp near the Turkish border, though while at Denver International Airport in April she was arrested.
The most sickest part of this is when the investigators were questioning her as to where and why she was leaving she responded, "that she was going to Turkey to await word from her suitor, identified in court documents as Yousr Mouelhi, an ISIS member she met on the Internet, whom she planned to marry." I honestly cannot wrap my head around why a young aspiring 19 year old teenager would want to marry someone who she just met and is threatening our country, not to mention that she wants to be a nurse at some jihadist camp. In federal court on Wednesday, Conley, who had converted to Islam, wore a blue and white striped jail uniform and a traditional Muslim headscarf. She pleaded guilt to the charge of conspiracy to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization. Conley faces a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison and up to a $250,000 fine. U.S. District Judge Raymond Moore ordered that she must have a psychiatric evaluation and set the sentencing for January 23. "As part of the plea agreement , Conley must provide law enforcement agencies with information about others looking to help terrorist organizations abroad. In a statement after the plea, Conley's federal defender Robert Pepin referred to his client as Helima Shannon Conley." Soon afterward Robert Pepin tried to tell the judge and jury that (Helima) Shannon was only trying to exercise her right of religion and that she should not be judged for pursuing her faith.

What the heck?! I don't understand how someone can be so twisted! Why would you betray your country like that? I wonder how many more people are like her. I'm glad she was caught... However, this is giving the government more reasons to increase national security and take more money....
