Slain gun instructor's family shows sympathy for child who accidentally killed him- Elizabeth Walker

Monday, a gun range instructor was shot in the head while trying to teach a 9 year old girl how to fire an Uzi, an israeli 9 mm gun. The law is that any child between 8 and 17 can fire a gun with a parents permission but many people have been questioning why a child was holding a very powerful that has the power to kill, and unfortunately did kill. The big scandal of this situation is not that the family of the deceased is sueing the young girl and her parents but actually supporting her and showing sympathy for the family. The ex-wife of the deceased was actually going to write a letter to the girl making sure that her life isnt ruined by this incident. The medical report was unclear of how many times the man was shot and  of how he died but the girl was at fault, yes, but the accident was labelled as an industrial accident which may keep the girl from any significant trouble. This incident goes to show how dangerous things can be even in the safest of circumstances.

  1. This is so sad. It is a very difficult situation and i hope the little girl can recover from that traumatic incident. It is also great that the man's ex-wife isn't pressing charges on such a controversial issue. Great analysis and i completely agree with you.

  3. Since we do not have every single fact, it is hard to say who is exactly at fault: is it the instructor because he left a student at such a young age unattended, or the student for not paying attention? And even then, the incident could have happened another way. For every event, there is a world of variations based on the same event. What does matter, however, is that a life was lost and it should be mourned, for this man died doing what he loved (or at least it seems to be that way.)

  4. I heard about this event, it was incredibly tragic. I don't believe that the girl is at fault due to the fact that it was a complete accident; a fatal accident, but nonetheless an accident. From what I understood, the kick the gun had was too much for the child to handle, and she loss control of the gun.
