Last Friday, the nine year old, Grace Banks, and her family and friends visited Oregon Beach. Grace and her friends were digging a hole in the sand and Grace decided to sit in the middle of it. As soon as she stepped in it, the sand came collapsing down on her. Other people across the beach heard screams and thought it was just kids having fun, yet the screams became louder and seemed more like cries for help. When the police and fire fighters arrived at the scene, they dug her out and found her unconscious. They were unable to revive her at the hospital after she had been buried under the sand for approximately five minutes.
Many kids like to go to the beach to build fun castles and dig holes to play in, yet parents don't realize that the sand could collapse. Kids should be more carefully watched at the beach because they are young and don't have the common sense in knowing what could go wrong. The beach should be a safe, fun place for families to visit, but when anyone hears stories like this it questions peoples thoughts of how safe a beach really is.

This is a very tragic incident. I feel like now when I go to the beach instead of worrying about sharks I should be worried about sandcastles collapsing on people.
