Timothy Jones Jr., resident of South Carolina and married father of 5, was said to have left the state on a road trip with his children ranging from ages 1-8. He had told friends and neighbors that he was taking the kids and moving out to another state. Along this trip, the bodies of Jones's children were found dead and decomposing, wrapped in garbage bags in Alabama. This past Wednesday, the father was detained and help in a Mississippi jail for being disoriented and belligerent while drive and also found to be in possession of synthetic marijuana and 'bath salts'. In his SUV, police found cleaning materials and 5 sets of children's clothing, but no children. The remains found in Alabama have been sent back to South Carolina for autopsies. The reason for the murder of the children is still unclear but some investigators are suspicious about the welfare benefits and whether or not the father was out for the money.
Malicious activity is becoming more and more common on news networks and on the internet. The fact that we as Americans are becoming more prone to hearing about a murder or kidnapping is a sign of how out of hand these crimes have become. To wipe out all the intent of pointless and random killings is almost impossible to do overnight, but if we can find a way to communicate with those who may pose as a possible threat or show signs of need of care, we may be able to extinguish cases like this from the future. There must have been a deterioration of the father's sense of mind to have been able to take the lives of his own children. It is very unnerving to think of a loved one who would inflict such pain and agony on any person.

What a tragic event. It's so hard to comprehend the idea that a loved one would go to such extremities and be capable of killing his or her own children. I feel like he must have been a drug addict of some sort, and this affected his idea of reality.
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad, scary, and true. A father that would do this to his own kids is not even a father at all. I don't know if it is because of these popular criminal investigation tv shows, but I have been hearing about lots of cases of killings, missing persons, and so on.

This makes me so uncomfortable and mad. How can a father do this to his kids, and because he was on drugs? His children have trusted him in their lives and he just ended them just like that and treated them like garbage. This is so inhumane it makes me sick.
