NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has (understandably) received a lot backlash for the lack policies on domestic violence especially given the amount of transgressions that have occurred during his tenure. His hiring of female consultants who deeply understand this form of abuse is a critical step forward in regaining the public's trust.
The authors (Eliott C. McLaughlin and Jill Martin) intend to provide a positive look on the situation by showing this move a progressive move on the league's part while still holding the NFL (and Goodell) accountable.
