Miss America goof Blythe Taylor 3rd period

Miss America Goof

It was a sad day on the night of September 14th when during the Miss America pageant a small fact bubble popped up on the screen during one of the contestants (later to be crowned as Miss America), saying "Loves anything Jane Austin". To whom it did not concern, not many realized the tragedy, but others were horrified by the act. Some weren't sure whether to target the person who wrote the pop up or Miss New York herself.
During the pageant, New York Times media and culture columnist David Carr tweeted saying, "Am amazed at Twitter's ability to build a campfire around anything and start snarking/smiling/smartalecking #MissAmerica #HighLoWorld." The 88th annual beauty pageant had a total of 6.7 million viewers, which was a broadcast low. It had dropped 22% from the past year. But the show had an outragingly large size of social media posts about it, over 300,000 tweets and over 48 million Twitter impressions, according to Nielsen, is comparable to other "live event TV" hits.

  1. I think it's absolutely hilarious that people are actually arguing about this. Anyone can make a careless mistake!

  2. Yeah I agree. Why can't we just congratulate the woman on winning?

  3. It's sad that social media would dwell on this simple typo rather than have a conversation about the contestant's choice in reading, since it is quite interesting.

  4. They need to get over it. It is a typo. People need to mature and look at the big idea. Quentin Noble

  5. It's a pity that they misspelled that. In my opinion, the reaction was way more than the situation deserved.
