A 2 year old girl, Chloe, was playing in her backyard this past
Thursday when she reached over to pet what seemed like a
cute caterpillar and was stung. She immediately started screaming and
felt excruciating pain in her hand. The mother of the child panicked
when she heard her child's cry. The mother put the venomous caterpillar
into a container and then rushed Chloe to the Sentara Belleharbour emergency
room. By the time they arrived the child's arm was covered in a rash from this
sting. The ER doctors gave Chloe Motrin and Benadryl to help with her
swelling. On Friday she still had a red puffy mark on her hand. The puss
caterpillars have toxic bristles under their fur that break off into the
skin when they are touched, causing excruciating pain. This sting is similar to
a bee of a wasp sting. These fuzzy caterpillars are no joke.

The girl must be scarred for life! But, now we can learn from this and prevent others from having to endure through the same thing.
ReplyDeleteThe title of this made me go what????
ReplyDeleteWow thats a really hard thing to endure. Poor little girl, idk if ill be touching any bugs after this.
Remember kids: Don't touch cute, fuzzy things or bad stuff is gonna happen.
ReplyDeleteEw. It's so strange that things like that exist and live around us, and probably many more things that we haven't even discovered.
ReplyDeleteOHMYGOSH!!! This is why I don't touch things in the first place! That is so scary!!!!! I'm glad the girl is ok though.
ReplyDeleteAh dang this is freaky! Fuzzy things are supposed to be cute and happy
ReplyDeleteSo crazy how you hear about all the dangerous things that happen in the world but rarely about the things that could hurt you in your own backyard...
