Ebola, now a national security priority (Mackenzie McGregor, 6th period)

Recently in an interview on Meet the Press, President Obama stated that the Ebola outbreak in West Africa is now a "national security priority". Obama decided to make this statement after Dr. Joanne Liu made the statement that all countries that have the ability to help reduce the spread of this epidemic should do so swiftly so that it will not be carried into their own countries. This is wonderful that our president is acknowledging the importance of stopping the spread of this disease, but there needs to be more action used with these words. Just because announcing that you acknowledge a problem doesn't mean that you have improved the situation in any way. There is still work to be done if the world wants to see the end of this killer sickness.

  1. I'm so concerned for those who have the virus. We can only hope that those affected are able to seek proper treatment. Great information. Thank you, Mackenzie!
