Drag Queens are protesting/speaking up about their unacceptance on Facebook. Many people are blocking and reporting Drag Queens who aren't putting their legal name or info. Facebook does not allow this due to the policy of having people's accurate and true identity. Drag Queens are taking offense to this because they feel that they are being wiped out of social media and that it is unfair. They feel that they are being pushed out of it by The People and making it an unsafe environment for trans-genders. San Francisco Drag Queens would rather boycott against Facebook as well.
This is common today because there are many different types of people. But what they don't understand is that Facebook is only trying to create a safe environment for everyone. Not many people know who or what they're talking too over social media which is why it is important to put accurate information.

This is honestly so outraging; You'd think that technology would be able to keep up with society and its changes, but this is a perfect example of the latter.
ReplyDeleteI see how they could be frustrated, but I agree with your analysis that by allowing people to create accounts under the names of people that they may not be, it creates an unsafe environment that could be harmful.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Facebook as a company is necessarily against Drag Queens; rather, like you said, they are trying to keep Facebook safe by not allowing people with fake or multiple identities. In addition, it seems certain Facebook users are the people who do not accept trans-genders: so society as a whole needs to become more accepting of all types of people.
ReplyDeleteI see what they are trying to do (Facebook), nut who cares if these drag queens want to be portrayed as who they feel they actually are. Can we all get past the fact that there are people in this world who are attracted to the same sea and who were simply born in the wrong body!! Seriously, though.
ReplyDeleteDrag queens are not transgender people, I think that's a fairly important distinction. But yeah, facebook needs to stay out of people's buisess.
