Children apparently live unnoticed in squalor- Hannah Clifford 5th Period

Three infants were found dead under mounds of rubbish in a Massachusetts home. While searching through the mounds, investigators had to wear hazmat suits because it was so bad. It is unclear whether the infants were killed or stillborn. The couple living in the house had four living children who were taken away from the home when this case emerged. Of these four living children, the husband claims to only know about two, yet they were all living together in the same garbage filled house. There is a possibility that his wife had somehow hidden five pregnancies from him and given birth to them completely on her own. It is also possible that she was scared of child abuse from her husband and managed to keep the dead infants and two of their living children a secret. The investigation is ongoing.

This was written by Kevin Conlon for CNN on September 15th, 2014. Before I read this article, I had no idea that it was possible for someone to live in the same house with their wife and four (live) kids, not notice her pregnancy five times, and not realize that they had five other children. Kevin informs the U.S. about what can become of fear of child abuse and unkempt homes. This is a very important topic right now because as a whole, we are very connected to the people around us and even those in other countries with our technology and whatnot. But this article is contradictory of that. These people were all living under the same roof and yet there were three dead infants who went unnoticed.

  1. This is awful. I cannot even fathom how a father could not know about five out of seven children that his own wife gave birth to and was keeping IN their house. I hope the remaining four children find good homes to take them in.

  2. that just doesnt make sense, the father had to know something, that just sounds like a lame excuse to get out of the situation.
