Change doesn't happen over night by Lossie Hudspeth (4th period)

The events that have brought Ferguson MO. to the center of media attention was one most bitter but all to familiar. Racial profiling and blind judgement is a common theme that America just can't seem to part with. President Obama saw that it would be fit to bring relief to such an uneasy and intense conflict by addressing the nation with "A Time to listen, not just shout." His speech included an array of possibilities as to how to we can come together as a community and settle our differences by listening and understanding each other. He also brought to the plate the issue of the militarism of police forces, not just in Ferguson, but nationwide. It's not an easy task to change the foundation with which a country has been built upon, but instead of tearing down everything we worked hard to achieve, we must instead, fill in these cracks of our foundation with deeper insight on our country's lack of empathy.
