A lot of the press surrounding this issue is similar to yellow journalism in the late 1800s. Facts were changed to stir the public into a frenzy about the Spanish's treatment of Cubans to get support for the Spanish-American War. Just like in this case, things were often exaggerated or completely made up to manipulate the public.

People who made Planned Parenthood video found guilty - Kate Fehan 8th Period
The jury that has been investigating the video accusing Planned Parenthood of misconduct has declared Planned Parenthood innocent. Not only are they cleared of all accusations, but the people who made the video have been charged with tampering with a government record and illegally offering to buy human organs. The video that showed "evidence" that Planned Parenthood was illegally selling organs has started a huge fight to close Planned Parenthood buildings all over the country. Now that the basis of the whole argument has been proven a fake, hopefully, politicians will let it rest. That probably won't happen, seeing as they started the fight with no real evidence anyway.
Police Patrol Fifth Anniversary of Egypt Uprising by Brenna Hale(6th Period)
Likely to be supporters of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood protesters chanted against President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. It has been five years since the uprising that overthrew President Hosni Mubarak. Security was bolstered for this day, but has it been overdone? many Egyptians say that they are scared to take to the streets again after the arrest of reporters, journalists, activists and the exile or imprisonment of the Muslim Brotherhood's leader. The only demonstration permitted to take place was a group of government workers cheering for Mr. Sisi, one of Mubaraks former generals, this groups took selfies with and gave roses to officers instead of fighting them. Other people blame the Western countries for the chaos in Arab countries, and propaganda against President Obama is frequently aired on Egyptian television. the presidents most immediate problems are not these protests, but economic. By the middle of the day the security squads were ready to go and cleared everyone out of the square.
The author of this article is Declan Walsh, and his purpose in writing it is to inform those outside of the Arab countries, specifically in the Western hemisphere of the conflicts that have arisen in Egypt recently. I had known that groups in Egypt had attempted to overthrow their president, but I had no idea issues remained today, and that there was something called the Muslim Brotherhood. This event reminds me of the British sending more troops into their colonies, such as the 13 American colonies, to reduce protesting and thoughts of overthrowing their respected tyrant. Though these events relate well enough the issues in Egypt are much larger and have not shown signs of success much as the fight for independence in colonial America.
Victoria Garza "Lawsuits Claim Disney Colluded to Replace U.S. Workers with Immigrants"
Leo Perrero and Dena Moore are two former Disney tech workers that were laid off by Disney. Over 250 skilled high performance rating tech workers were laid off and not likely to be rehired for at least a year. Perrero spent his final months training an Indian immigrant to do his job. These two have filed lawsuits against Disney as well as HCL and Cognizant, the companies that brought the immigrants to replace them.
I can see both sides to this story. Firstly, these two workers in particular had high performance ratings and had been working at Disney for an extended period of time. Theoretically, there shouldn't have been a reason for them to be let go. However, I also think that it's good to give immigrants the opportunity to earn their own money and try being successful in the US. The article also mentioned the companies saving money by hiring immigrants which sort of distorts the positive intentions. This is similar to the "new immigrants" in US history that were not accepted by the people and were seen as job stealers.

Lincoln Anthony (8th Period)- "Mexico moving captured drug lord 'El Chapo' from cell to cell"
One of the biggest recent arrests is definitely the arrest of the infamous Mexican drug lord Joaquin Guzman, more commonly referred to as "El Chapo". His arrest is such a big deal especially because he had been arrested and put into a maximum security prison twice before, escaping both of those times. In lieu of this, the Mexican government is taking extra steps in his security, some of which include extensive video monitoring that covers all areas of his cell, something that he had used to his advantage before, and of course moving him from cell to cell every couple of days or even hours.
I think that it's just absolutely fantastic to hear that a criminal as dangerous as El Chapo is finally off the streets, and hopefully it will stay that way. He is really one of the most dangerous people I think who has been on the streets. I sincerely hope that because of this arrest, Mexico will become somewhat of a safer place. I also hope that his empire will eventually crumble and some uncorrupted authority can be instated. I suppose this is all just wishful thinking because El Chapo is obviously completely able to rule over his empire from within prison.

The federal government spent more on health care in 2015 than on Social Security for the first time ever. The federal government spent $882 billion on Social Security, compared with $936 billion in spending on health care programs, including Medicare, Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program and tax subsidies that help people pay for private health plans under Obamacare.
The total represents a 13 percent jump in health care spending from fiscal 2014, according to the report. Authors of the report warn that the federal budget deficit will increase in relation to the size of the economy for the first time since effects of the Great Recession began in 2009, projecting that the 2016 budget deficit will reach $544 billion, or $105 billion more than the previous year. Health care programs are projected to total 5.5 percent of GDP in 2016 and to grow quickly in subsequent years, reaching 6.6 percent of GDP in 2026.

A study released on Monday says that states can rapidly reduce their green house gas emissions in 15 years by investing in wind and solar power systems.
We take for granted our resources. It's a no brainer. There has been a lot of development in environment conservation but not a lot of changes are happening. People realized this back on the progressive era as well, they were sucking up our resources by the second. Back then there was more poison air and such so we have improved, but if we don't invest in taking care of the environment, the industrial land of oppritunity will be no more.
