Plane crashes into Californian Home~ Sophie Knox

Summary: This Sunday (February 3rd) a small one person plane crashed into a home killing the pilot and residents of the house. Peices of the plane were found 4 miles away from the crash sight. The pilot was identified as Antonio Pastini, a retired Chicago Police officer and lived in Gardnerville, Nevada. The airplane took off 35 miles away from the home at Fullerton Muncicipal Airport. Four other deaths were included in the report, but their bodies will need DNA tests before public identification, but are believed to be two men and two women that were killed. Witnesses say that they noticed the plane flying normally before parts, like the tail, started breaking off.

Analysis: stories like these always remind me that bad things could happen at any time. The article wasn’t biased in any way and just gave cold hard facts. The audience isn’t directly targeted to one group, and serves the purpose of just increasing attention to this tragedy. This article is important because it raises awareness for plane companies look more into their planes to see if they are functioning correctly. I can relate this to the Gilded age and the Great train wreck of 1856 in which two trains crashed into each other killin over 50 people. Although The Great Train Wreck was more server, both accidents were related to automobiles failing.

  1. It's disturbing that these peoples' lives ended in a blink of an eye. I wonder what causes the airplane to fall apart like that.

  2. I wrote about this and I agree with Cathy on the fact that people’s lives can end in the blink of an eye but not just by plane crash. Anything we do can kill us. I just hope they had a fulfilling life.
