Several European Union nations have officially expressed support for the opposition against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, a socialist, whose government caused an economic collapsed that resulted in the fleeing of over 3 million Venezuelans. The new, self-proclaimed leader is Juan Guaido, leader of Venezuela's National Assembly. Many countries are calling for immediate re-election, but Maduro says it will have to wait until 2024.
This reminds me of the American Revolution when the Americans declared independence, but the British did not recognize their sovereignty.
