Millenial Cancer Sally North

According to a new study by the American Cancer society, millennials are getting cancer earlier in life with 12 cancers linked to obesity and 18 non obesity related cancers being diagnosed in younger individuals rather than people in their 60s and 70s, when these diseases normally crop up.

This study marks a turning point in medical history as this is the youngest demographic to be diagnosed with these cancers, marking a monumental shift. These diseases could lower the global life expectancy although we are making advances in medicine because we are not prepared for obesity related cancers showing up in 30 year olds whose lives have just begun.

  1. A lot of diseases that people get are from what they put in their bodies. These things really interest me because it's like we have the power to prevent things like this by eating healthy but people have become addicted to eating and not taking health seriously. I also understand that not every disease is like that but eating clean and healthy could definitely lower your chances from getting these diseases, especially at a young age.

  2. Chloe Meinershagen - The return of diseases with more aggressive strains is so interesting and scary to me. It's also sad to think that company's are creating systemic obesity in America that is linking to cancer.
