Camille Cole - Beto Steps It Up
Summary: Beto O’Rourke has made new steps as he leads a rally against President Trump’s rally in El Paso, Texas. Trump has gathered there to lead a speech about why the border wall would be a good idea while Beto O’Rourke is there to show that the people of El Paso know what is best for their city which Trump should not interfere with. The entire crowd marched over a mile and then to a nearby baseball stadium where O’Rourke spoke.
Analysis: Beto O’Rourke is really solidifying his space potentially on the 2020 ballot if he is to choose to run. There have been rumors in and out about what O’Rourke is going to do about running, and O’Rourke has positioned himself in the national news once again to make sure to keep his standings well and alive. When worried about his loss in the senate, I synthesized to how President Abraham Lincoln lost his senate race before running for president and winning.

I think this was a good move on O’Rourke’s part, especially if he’s planning on running in the 2020 election. It’s interesting to see how even though O’Rourke did not win the Texas Senate election, he continues to make efforts to make Texas (and the U.S.) a better place. This was a great opportunity to show Americans his strength and willing to do what’s right for the people.

I appreciate you bringing this event to our attention and i understand that it was mainly for the intention of meeting the assignment requirements, but I think that diminishing Beto's efforts to a campaign strategy is not doing him justice. He truly believes in what he is doing otherwise he wouldn't be going head to head with our president. While it may be an effect, he is not doing it to remain in popularity with the people.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your comparison of O’Rourke’s efforts to Lincoln having lost the president race before running for president and winning. Hopefully O’Rourke stays strong and continues to express his views on the current political situation to the public in order to rise up among future presidential candidates.
