President Trump showed his condolences to the affected people of the Texas church shooting (which left 26 dead), tweeting shortly after the attack that he was "monitoring the situation from Japan." He tweeted, "May God be w/ the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas." Mike Pence also tweeted, "Karen & I send prayers to victims & their families in TX. We grieve w/ you & stand w/ resolve against evil. Thank you to the first responders." When asked whether tighter gun-control laws could help prevent such shootings, Trump said, "Mental health is your problem here." He said the initial investigation indicates the killer was a "very deranged individual." "This isn't a guns situation," he said, "this is a mental health problem at the highest level. It's a very, very sad event." https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/06/trump-says-texas-church-shooting-caused-by-mental-health-problem-not-guns.html
