Summary: Over the weekend, the U.S. military conducted several unmanned airstrikes on ISIS and Al-Shabaab, Al-Qaeda's affiliate in Somalia, killing several militants, including some involved in a recent attack. This attack did not result in any American casualties.

These airstrikes come just weeks after a group of U.S. military officers were ambushed in Somalia, killing 4 marines and injuring more.

Position/Synthesis: The U.S. is conducting these airstrikes to show the world that they will not be frightened by a terror organization such as ISIS or Al-Qaeda. These airstrikes relate to the nullification crisis, in that the U.S. government is asserting control over an organization (in the past's case, South Carolina).

  1. I found this interesting because a couple of weeks ago I wrote my current event about airstrikes conducted by the military and the C.I.A. Hearing that the US is fighting a war across the world and reading all the other current events about sexual harassment and shootings in the United States its like we have 10 million different wars going on at once.
