US general, Jeffrey Buchanan, and the other US troops are being pulled from Puerto Rico. After being there for 7 weeks after the devastating Hurricane Maria hit, they feel it is the right time to move on. However, over half of the population in Puerto Rico is still out of power and every 1 for 10 people is without water. Jeffrey Buchanan has noted noticeable differences from the beginning of the aftermath to where Puerto Rico stands now, but there are still many towns that cant function as a working community because of shortage of power and water.
Many emergency generators have been put into place to temporarily provide power, but the cost of these is very immense. Diesel for these generators tends to cost the company $95,000 to $140,000. Also so many people are leaving that it is causing an immense shortage of jobs that are still filled. This article, written by Leyla Santiago for CNN news keeps us updated with the latest details about Puerto Rico. I think that even if we have decided to leave the bases on Puerto Rico that we should still do everything in our power to help them. They are apart of the US and deserve the same attention and protection as any of us.

I know I have done nothing, but I really wish I had the resources to help. If it took 7 weeks, and still only 1 of every 10 people is back up, how will we prevent it in the future?
