Why Did He Do It? -Alex Travell

Although there have been over 1,000 leads on the shooting by Stephen Paddock, officials are still struggling to gain an understanding as to why he did it. Ever since the shooting, there has been an intense focus on finding out the motivation of the shooter. Many people have developed rumors about why he might've done it, yet officials claim this makes it much harder to identify the real cause. His motivations might not matter to most, but if we are able to gain an understanding as to why he did it, then we might be able to prevent a future event from occurring.

Throughout history, there have been many mass attacks, but unlike this one, officials haven't spent as much time trying to gain an understanding about why the shooter did such a thing. If we spent more time trying to gain this information in the beginning, then we might've been able to prevent many slaughters from occurring.

  1. ISIS claimed the shooter to be a part of their side. People who are of the ISIS religion believe that if they kill people they will get to heaven quicker. He had guns in the hotel room and police found more guns and ammo in his car trunk. My conspiracy is that he thought he would go to heaven if he completed "his mission".

  2. It is an interesting point of view to try and find out the motives for the shooting. In most cases we just try to find out who did it and try to prevent it from happening again. However you are right in that finding out the motives help us prevent the tragedies from happening again.

I understand that not everyone is going to agree with actions taken in government and outside but massacres is not a good way to "relieve" your hate. i feel like hate crimes are something that should get more attention because they are becoming more prevalent and larger.

  4. I can't even wrap my head around how sick this man is. This is one of the saddest events in history. His family has gone to almost every single funeral home or cremation place, and no one will take him because of all of his awful and unfortunate actions. I honestly agree with all of the funeral homes and cremation services turning him down, what he did is unforgivable. And on top of that, he killed himself before the cops could. What a coward. Do you agree with the funeral homes turning down his families requests to bury him? I do.

  5. I feel figuring out his motives could possibly prevent another tragedy, but also bring a sense of closure to those who were affected by the shooting in Las Vegas.
