In the country of Niger, 4 soldiers died in an apparent ambush. One of the soldiers was Sgt. La David Johnson. After his death, President Donald Trump called Sgt. La David Johnson's wife Myeshia Johnson and said "He knew what he signed up for." Rep. Frederica Wilson (D) was in the car with Myeshia Johnson when the conversation happened. She said the conversation was on speakerphone, after the incident Trump called Wilson a "wacky congresswoman", after Wilson reported what Trump said in the call. Trump was "very surprised" by Wilson's account of the call stating it was a very nice call.
I think this whole story is very sad. I think our president should be more compassionate and thoughtful with his remarks when dealing with family member of a fallen soldier. What's even sadder is that somehow something as almost sacred as sending condolences to gold star families has become yet another politically divisive "issue." Just another crisis of the week.

I love how The president blamed congresswoman Wilson in order to get himself out of the spotlight. This is our government; little respect for military families and truth.
