Summary:
Five teens are being charged with 2nd degree-murder and conspiracy to commit second-degree murder. Apparently, they decided to throw rocks and concrete chunks onto an I-75 overpass in Michigan. One of the rocks smashed through a window of a moving truck and killed 32-year-old Kenneth White of Mount Morris. The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office claimed it was a prank, but either way it's now murder.
Analysis:
Honestly, I feel like they deserve to be charged and put in jail. They knew what they were doing, and they didn't stop. I would not, however, label this as a "prank". Pranks don't typically cause such a bodily harm to the point of death.
As to how this relates to history:
The invasion of Canada in 1812 was similar to this event. You see the teens represent the people who wanted to invade Canada, they saw it as a way to "preserve american honor". The teens saw it as a way to have some "fun" and preserve their childhood. Either way, in both situations it goes wrong. The outcome seems unforeseen even though it was kind of obvious.

I wrote about the same topic, and they deserve to suffer the consequences form their actions. People need to know what can happen when things like this happen.
ReplyDeleteI agree that they deserve the charge of 2nd degree murder & their punishment. Things like this shouldnt happen, how could they be so stupid?
ReplyDeleteWhat makes them think that throwing rocks is a prank? Throwing rocks onto an overpass doesn't scream "prank" to me, it screams stupidity. They do deserve a punishment because whether they meant to or not, they killed someone.

ReplyDeleteI think that pranks never have a positive outcome. those kids deserve to be punished for the gravity of their actions.
