Current Events: Las Vegas Shooting
Shortly after 10pm on Sunday night, There was a mass shooting that killed at least 59 people at a country concert in Las Vegas. From the 32nd floor, Stephen Paddock, shot at the large crowd, killing, and injuring hundreds of people. A total of 17 guns were found in his hotel room, and 18 guns were found in his house along with hundreds of rounds of ammunition. His friends and family were very confused because he never ran into trouble with the law, and he was never very big on guns. His brother confirmed that he was not a part of any religious, political, or supremacist organization. Paddock did not actually have an occupation, but he gambled for a living, which was the only odd thing about him.Paddock shot himself after the crime was committed.
The first thing that I really do not understand is how this guys managed to get 17 rifles into his hotel room and not get caught. That is a very large amount of decently sized guns and he somehow managed to hide them from housekeeping and other hotel residents and staff. This is so upsetting that people were only trying to enjoy music at a concert and have fun, and then a tragedy like this happens. People should not have to be afraid of being in a place they should feel safe and happy in.
This makes me very very sad. I don't understand how a person can hide so many weapons in a hotel room. I also wonder what led this person with no criminal records to kill and injure so many people.
