Analysis: This article is informational in concerning parents about the risk of having children while doing drugs. To watch a baby withdrawal from themselves mentally would be heartbreaking for a parent. It's important for parents to know they could be putting their child at risk, so I believe this article is helpful with informing that. Hopefully if more parent become aware of this, the rates of NAS will decrease in the coming years. The academic struggle for children correlates with the same barrier slaves experienced by not being able to read or write.

Lilly Anthony- Babies born addicted to opiates perform poorly in school, study says
Summary: Over the past few years, studies have proven that babies born with heroin or other opiates perform worse academically as they get older. They also experience serious health issues such as nausea, and “inconsolable screams.” Researchers explored test data and examined that children with NAS(neonatal abstinence syndrome) performed worse as they got older than kids without the disease. Doctors say that the disease need to be seen early in order to minimize consequences and be in a healthy home environment.

It seems like common sense that these children would perform worse. I hope that this brings more awareness to drug addicts who are pregnant or anyone who plans to have a baby.
