analysis:
New York Times originally reported, commentary by CNN Christina Alesci
Article was released on Monday October 3rd in the New York Times. New York is both the financial capital of the United States, the home and headquarters for Donald Trump and the State where Hillary Clinton served as senator. These are a triad of relevant reasons to report on Donald Trumps finances and tax bracket brings new meaning to the article perspective. Prior to the article I had no knowledge of paying taxes or how someone who earns the level of income of Donald Trump would be able to declare bankruptcy multiple times and also avoid paying taxes. After reading the article and hearing the supporting information it actually showed that Donald Trump is legally avoiding paying his taxes by leveraging the rules of the IRS in his favor, so maybe he is in fact smart, even if we don't agree to the spirit of his approach to earning money.
This article was written because of the closing window before the election and the pressure that Hillary Clinton has put on Donald Trump to disclose his tax records. The main point that the article is trying to convey, is that Donald Trump has not paid any federal taxes in 18 years. The article was written for the interested and undecided voters to understand the facts around his taxes. It is hard to say if the article is a positive or a negative because for me, I thought Donald Trump was hiding something only to find that the government created the loop hole, so who can blame him?
The article is important because without the investigation and facts we would be left guessing or assuming. But the article helped me to draw the conclusion that he is legally avoiding taxation. The headline should read: If you can avoid spending 900million in taxes legally, why not? The document is relevant to our lives because many people will cast their vote for president based on these final fact checks being done by the media. Donald Trump not owing money to the government can be related to the way the United States of America found loopholes and made compromises in order to receive more votes to ratify the constitution.

Unless Donald Trump was breaking the law, then we should find fault with the writers of the tax code rather than the citizens who lawfully use them.
