Creepy Clown Sightings- Abby Pryor 8th Period

Summary:
All over the country, in over 10 states, there have been numerous reports and sightings of "creepy clowns". These clowns are supposedly terrorizing people, mostly children, by holding weapons or trying to lure people to come with them. This is not the first time this has happened. In the 1980's, there was a similar clown hoax going around in the Boston area. A mass hysteria such as this makes it hard to tell which of the clowns are hoaxes, and which are taking it to the extreme. Many schools have reassured their students and parents that their safety is a top priority, and many schools have closed because of threats.

Analysis:
I think that this is a terrifying, but stupid situation. People are taking this way too far, and should just leave the public alone. As a responsible society, we are taking the precautions that are necessary; but it is a waste of time due to it being a hoax.

Synthesis:
This reminds me of the serial killer John Wayne Gacy, also known as the 'Killer Clown'. He would dress up as a clown to lure kids to be alone with him, and then kill them. He was convicted of 33 murders, and charged with only 12 of them.
