Chipotle to pay 16-year-old nearly $8 million for 'outrageous' sexual assault
Summary: A girl who worked at a Chipotle in Houston from the age of 16 was recently granted an almost eight million dollar pay out when they were found at fault for her repeated sexual assault by a manager. The employees of the Chipotle were aware of this sexual assault but did their best to cover it up. This is a hard hit to Chipotle's public image, especially after they'd just recovered from the e. Coli outbreaks at locations last year.
Analysis: It really bothers me that so many people knew what was going on with this older man in a position of power assaulting a young girl and no one did anything about it. Instead they tried to cover themselves by perpetuating what was going on. Lately a lot of sexual assault claims have been coming out as women are more open to telling their stories. This relates to the multiple sexual assaults claims that came out a little while ago about Bill Cosby.

I'm surprised that no one did anything , even thought they knew such boisterous acts were happening.I feel like not even the money given to the girl will ever fix the damaged done.
ReplyDeleteThat's crazy that the employees who know about it let it go on. That's very unfortunate that this had to happen to happen to such a young person too. The money doesn't make up for the assaults at all really.
ReplyDeleteThis is very surprising to me, I can't believe no one did anything about this issue. This sure changes the people's minds whenever they will work at the facilities of Chipotle.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a shocking article! That no one would get involved and make a direct change! This impacts how I think of Chipotle as business, and the money doesn't make up for the damage done.
ReplyDeleteThis is terrible! I'm sure Chipotle will loose a lot of business because of this. The workers of Chipotle that did not stand up for the girl should be punished.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me sick when people ignore pleas of help from women who are not in a position to do anything to change their situation. I'm glad that rather than continue to dismiss the crime, chipotle acknowledged the wrong doings and made an effort to make them better, regardless of the business they will loose.
