Summary: On Saturday night a Long Island Commuter train was on its way to what I believe was Manhattan. When all of the sudden the first 3 carriages out of 12 came of the railroad tracks almost near New Hyde Park Station. The trained derailed shortly after collied with another train that was heading right towards them. Overall,  there were no deaths but a lot of the citizens were severely injured.
Analysis: This reminded me of all the times in history where there happened to be a lot of deaths transportation wise because not everything was thought through all the way or didn't have enough technology yet. There has to be a way where we can prevent this at all costs so this will never happen again. My heart goes out to every one that suffered from this.

  4. This is so sad to hear. I am thankful for no fatalies, but I also agree more mandates need to be in place to keep trains just as safe as automobiles.

  6. This is absolutely terrible: and thank goodness their wasn't any deaths. Situations like this are so life threatening and scary and should be dealt with urgently and with serious concern.

  7. This is so devastating for all those living around that area! I agree that transportation needs to improve to prevent future collisions like this. I also can fully see the connection between today's transportations, and the older transportation that had not been fully developed or advanced.
