Mollie Hamman - "Graveyard of Life Jackets" in London

In parliament square in London, campaigners have made what they call a "graveyard of life jackets" full of life jackets that refugees wore to try to make it to safety in Europe but never made it. It gives a visual representation of the dangers emigrants from Africa

I think that this helps bring to light the problems that the emigrants face as they leave Africa and try to reach a better life in Europe.

  1. I think the visual representation is interesting and the cause it's bringing attention to.

  2. This spectacle reminds me of something I saw in the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. There was a room full of shoes, all of which had been taken from people brought to a Nazi camp to die. Visuals like this can be extremely effective, and are even hard to look at at times.
