Summary: Big news for electronics this week is the huge Samsung Galaxy Note 7 recall. The reason for this recall is because so many of the these phones had an issue with the battery. Many people have claimed that their phone caught on fire while it was charging. Even in stores, the phones are not turned on because of safety reasons. Many people who bought the phone were encouraged to either get a replacement or a refund. This was very bad timing for the Galaxy Note 7 because Apple also released their new iPhone 7.
Analysis/Synthesis: This is such a huge thing in news recently because of the fact it's such a serious issue and it involves phones: something almost every person uses on a daily basis. For there to be such a huge recall on these phones is kind of scary knowing that they've caused fires. The representative in the video from the second link repeats many times to take advantage of this recall and to either get a replacement or refund. Usually companies don't want to give refunds but to hear that they really want people to be safe (which also saves them from being sued) is nice to hear. A similar event that has happened for a huge recall was in 2015 when Blue Bell had to recall and stop selling their ice cream after a listeria outbreak. The company only took action after the products were already out and caused multiple deaths (although Samsung's phone didn't cause any deaths). It wasn't until early this year that Blue Bell came back. Both companies will make people wary of their products because of these incidents.

Samsung should have done a better job making their phone. We, the consumer, shouldn't have to pay for their mistakes. I'm glad they are offering replacements, but how can we trust them after this fiasco.
