In tennis, just like life in general, women are paid less than men for the exact same work. For years, Roger Federer and Serena Williams have been leading the tennis world, winning tournament after tournament, and yet, their paychecks are significantly different. Billie Jean King, a strong advocate for women in tennis since the beginning said "We have a chance to continue to lead, to have equal prize money in the majors sends a message. It's not about the money, it's about the message."
This is true, because for the most part, equal pay means that women are recognized as being equal to men, and capable of the same things. This is not to say that women and men are the exact same, but one gender isn't held above the other, like it has been forever.

Kenley Turner- This is very sad that this still takes place, even in sports
