The Hamburglar Strikes: Samantha Arthur - 1st Period

The character the Hamburglar used to be just that - a character. However, now it has become reality. The crime struck a Five Guys restaurant in Washington D.C. A fedora clad man found his way into the famous establishment and proceeded to not take any money, but he took food. The man took his time and casually cooked food before enjoying it himself. As of yet, there have been no arrests in this unusual case.
This act would not appear so strange if it had occurred in the Great Depression. During this period of U.S. history many people were starving, and even one in four adult males were unemployed. Many had to fight and steal for any nourishment that they could obtain. It is unknown why the Hamburglar decided to strike, but if he were to have back in the early 1900's it would've been an easy guess as to why.

  2. This is an interesting synthesis... but it makes a lot of sense. In the context of the Great Depression, this is very sad.
