Summary***
An octopus held captive in the New Zealand Aquarium made an intrepid escape through a narrow pipe and returned himself to the ocean. The octopus made it bold, slipping through a thin gap in his area then sliding across a wet floor and squeezing through the 5.9 inch pipe. "Inky could stretch to extremes and squeeze through tiny spaces," said Yarrell, the aquarium manager, stated.
Analysis***
In my opinion, this means that animals are at times just done with enclosures and just do anything they can to be free as they should be. I'm sure that Inky wasn't very experienced in the unrestrained environment, but as said by Yarrell, Octopus are very intelligent creatures, very inquisitive, and they also tend to explore whenever they get the chance. I think that Inky will do just fine. This could possibly synthesize to the fact that several (more than several, really) animals are taken captive, or bred in captivity. It is definitely not the place for them. I don't see how humans can't see that the animals' natural abilities and instincts are being wasted away in cages just so they can look at them.
