‘Promposals’ Are a Thing, and This ‘Dark Meat’ One May Be the Worst of Them All

Summary: A highschool boy asked a black girl to prom with a sign that read ," i perfer dark meat. Prom??" He referred to this girl as "dark meat" and then placed a KFC crown on her head. There is a serious problem with this. This photo has went viral recieving mixed views over it.

Analysis: Why does her skin tone have to be a factor in whether or not he asked her to prom and how he asked her to prom? It's never acceptable to link a woman to a piece of meat. And then to add the other layer of colorism onto it?  Oh my. This is racism, misogynist , colorism and objectification all in one. The stereotyping of black people and calling her a piece of  DARK meat w/ KFC merchandise is absolutely unacceptable. i don't know about her but i would have fought him but I don't understand why she was smiling There is literally so many things wrong with this. He might have thought this was "funny " but seriously you could've came up with millions of other ways to ask her out to prom like he could have complimented her skin tone: "Your black is beautiful" or "You are black girl magic," or something that is not racist, sexist,misogynistic,colorism and objectification —anything but "I prefer dark meat." This is just a modern day spin of how white people mocked us aka jim crowe, pickaninny etc. There is many more unacceptable racist proposals that need to be stopped immediately
