Soccer Star charged with DUI
The article I read from CNN follows the arrest of the recently retired, Abby Wambach. The American soccer star was arrested in Portland, Oregon on Sunday morning at around 2am. She was charged with the Oregon equivalent of a DUI, which is driving under the influence of intoxicants, or DUII. Wambach took to Facebook to express her feelings and apologize for her poor action.
I chose this article, not because I'm in interested in soccer or DUIs, but because I felt an extreme connection between this article and the time of prohibition. The sole purpose of being against the consumption of alcohol, or being a prohibitionist, is to prevent incidents like this from happening. Prohibition happened during the Progressive Era, when old customs in the United States were changing and were progressing towards what we know them to be today. Although prohibition isn't a huge topic of discussion in modern society, limiting alcohol consumption should be acknowledged even today.

  1. I completely agree. These stories pop up so much, it's honestly the status quo. If nobody was arrested for a DUI in a month imagine how skeptical we would all be.
