In China, Sun Wenlin is suing the Buerau for refusing to let him marry his boyfriend. Even though Beijing recently stopped classifying homosexuality as a "mental illness", it still has a very large social stigma. The case is still ongoing, and if the case was to be won, then it would be a huge victory for the LGBT+ community. Wenlin stated: “If we win the case, it would be an unprecedented achievement for China’s LGBT community,” Sun said in a phone interview before the hearing. “If we lose the case, it’s still better than if we did nothing. If you don’t knock on the door, the door will be closed to you forever. But once you knock on the door, you can knock on it for a second and third time, and there’s a chance the door will finally open someday.”
I'm glad to see some kind of advancement being done about the discrimination against LGBT+ community. However, there is still a long way to go for equality.
