This article is about how Donald Trump is trying to get John Kasich, another Republican candidate to drop out of the race so he could more easily win the nomination. This is because having Kasich in the race puts Donald Trump's needed delegates at risk.
This is similar to how candidates become upset over a split within their own party. A split within a party often makes it hard for a candidate within the split party to win the election because they do not have a large enough percentage of supporters.

I hope Kasich wins the republican nomination. He's the only rational candidate that's left among the republicans, and I think he would make a good president.
