Can Trump really get rid of the national debt? by Mattie Whisler 9th period Flex

Donald Trump has proposed that he can get rid of the national debt of $19 trillion in 8 years of being president. Trump's proposals about the economy are to cut taxes and begin trade wars. Although he has been warned by economists that this could potentially hurt the economy he still believes it will work. Trump is arguing that new deals would cause the economy to grow and eventually the U.S. will pay off its debt.

I don't believe that something so big like getting rid of the national debt could happen in just 2 terms. This kind of relates back to when Trump also said he was going to build a wall to keep out illegal immigrants. Another thing that will most likely never happen.

  1. That is an insane claim for Donald Trump to make, and many people call Sanders unrealistic, but I think Trump has taken the trophy for the most unrealistic. -Claudia Anthony

  2. The math is physically impossible. His proposals are to cat taxes and increase spending on the military. He says he won't cut entitlements which is the the other largest spending block in the U.S. He also want's to build that stupid wall and deport 11 million immigrants which would cost hundreds of billions of dollars. So he would spend more while decreasing the governments revenue.
