Yesterday, armed protestors stood outside a south Dallas Nation of Islam Mosque. Supporters of the mosque stood against them, some armed as well, and outnumbered the protestors 10 to 1. There was no violence and no arrests made by police who stood by on rooftops and between the groups to ensure that nothing happened. Supporters of the Mosque questioned their right to go to highland park and do as these protestors have done to them, stating that there would have been arrests if they did such a thing.
I do agree that they would have been arrested if the roles were reversed, and while I am an advocate for peaceful protesting, I do not believe that the protestors should have had guns.
This related to the sit-ins and other protests in the 60's that were met with violence, except this protest could have gotten violent on both sides because of the arms involved.
It's scary to think about how out of control this protest could have gotten.
ReplyDeleteThere's no doubt the would've been arrested. These "protesters" only feed false information about islam and endanger so many
