Two college students met at a fast food restaurant, not to discuss homework, but allegedly to plan the killing of a 13-year-old girl. They also developed a plan of how to hide the body of seventh-grader Nicole Lovell. On Thursday, the details of the situation were revealed in court when a prosecutor argued against granting bail to one of the Virginia Tech students. One of the college students is being accused of an accessory to murder, and one with abduction and murder. The pair had gone to the same restaurant days before Lowell's disappearance in order to plot her death. The plan was to lure Nicole out of her home at night, take her to a secret location, and kill her there. One of the college students was said to have had an inappropriate relationship with Nicole via social media and she was planning to expose him, which could've been one of the motives of killing her. Authorities decided to arrest Eisenhauer after finding more evidence on social media.
This story is incredibly terrible, as it resulted in the death of an innocent teenage girl. It's very scary to read about stories like this that began on social media. Nowadays it's so easy for criminals to disguise themselves behind a computer or phone screen without whoever's on the opposite end ever suspecting anything. Although the story is very unfortunate, the students behind the operation were caught and are suffering the consequences of their terrible crime. Hopefully this story will be a reminder of how although the internet is great sometimes, it's something to use with caution.

This is such a terrible story, and I feel so bad for that girl's family.... It's good that justice was served though
ReplyDeleteThat's terrifying, I feel like as social media becomes more popular among younger groups, we have to put more restrictions.
