"One dead, one injured after wanted Missouri couple gets into shootout with police" -Leah Messinger (period 1)

This past Thursday, Blake Fitzgerald and Brittany Harper were involved in a police chase from Escambia County to Santa Rose County that resulted in the death of Fitzgerald and the injuring of Harper. This couple has been on the run since Sunday and are suspected of committing several crimes  in different states throughout the past week. Although the couple has not hurt anyone in the process, they have been involved in a string of dangerous robberies. No one knows for sure why they are running or who or what they are running from. The couples' criminal history led officials to believe that they had sufficient evidence for a conviction.
Stories like this are depressing because people are willing to run for as long as they can before they own up to what they have done. For whatever their reasoning is behind the robberies, it is not sufficient in making up for what they have done. This story can be compared to that of the behavior of the famous couple Bonnie and Clyde, who traveled the United States during the Great Depression robbing and killing people. Although this situation is on a smaller scale, it is still very horrible to think about and is a connection that I immediately made when I read this story.

  1. It definitely is weird how you can relate these two offenders to Bonnie and Clyde.

  2. Crazy and sad story. I feel bad for that couple, having to live an existence of constantly looking over their backs because of some bad decisions.
