Death of Scalia- Tea Devereaux

Right after the death of Antonin Scalia on February 13 the presidential candidates went amok on who would succeed the associate justice. Within two hours of Scalia's death being reported, presidential candidates along with Republican and Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill were feuding over whether Obama should appoint a replacement for the eloquent and outspoken Scalia or wait for the next administration to make a decision.

The decision is a big deal due to the fact that the person who is appointed will most probably be a huge factor in the decisions of the winner of this years presidential elections. Even thought President Obama wants to appoint a new justice in the coming week, Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell insists that the choice be made by the next president so that they can cement an ideological balance in the court for years to come. I think that President Obama should be allowed to exercise his presidential right of appointing a new Justice, this is because at the moment there can be a tie in votes for any upcoming decision.
