In Northern Mississippi, a man shot four state troopers but his mother claims that the officers refused to let her talk to her son during the six hours of negotiation. She said that with convincing from the family, her son, Charles Lee Lambert, would have left after the policeman stormed into his house. However, the article does state that Lambert began to shot at the officers as they barged in. In my opinion, the article sort of contradicts itself because it later states that officers are trained making their first goal to keep people alive but after Lambert shot at the state troopers, a shootout followed and Lambert was killed. An autopsy has not been performed yet so the specific causes of his death are unknown. 3 of the officers were wounded and James Lee Tartt, an agent for Mississippi Bureau Narcotics, was killed.
Although they aren't exactly the same, this reminds me of Sacco and Vanzetti back in the 1920's. They were electrocuted after the two men were convicted of murdering the paymaster for a shoe company and his guard. Before the killing of the men, several people protested and claimed they shouldn't be convicted because they weren't guilty but Allen T. Fuller refused. Later in 1977, stated that Sacco and Vanzetti had been treated unjustly and that no shame should be associated with their name. Who knows? The policeman could've killed an innocent man without even letting him talk or something else could have happened. The article is quite vague and definitely left me wondering.
