Why do we take photographs? I think we take photographs to essentially "freeze" a moment. It is almost out of fear of forgetting an extremely beautiful or meaningful moment. Nowadays we document almost everything we do, but if you take the time to photograph or film something it is usually because you find some sort of significance in it, acknowledging it and appreciating it. Campbell thought it was time for her and her fellow artists to be appreciated and so she painted a portrait of herself and of all of her fellow artists and they are now hanging high at the L.A. Louver. She thought that by painting them, alone, she was showing them and herself that someone cares. Although you are not Van Gogh, you can and should still be appreciated and the fact that you are a woman shouldn't persuade or dissuade anyone from loving at you art. It shouldn't even be a factor.
Her 19 paintings made it to this amazing museum and are making a statement, but it is sort of sad that she had to go to that much of an extreme to be acknowledged. She should have 19 of her other paintings in museums.
When I was younger I used to say I was "kinda a feminist." But girls, all girls, you need to be feminists. Misogyny is real. It is soooo real so please please please learn what it means to be a feminist and embrace it.
Why are we letting history repeat itself?
We are disappointing Susan B. Anthony, Alice Paul, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Lucretia Mott!!!!

The wage differences are horrible and apparent everywhere. I hope that we can soon shrink this gap and gain equal pay for equal work.
