SeaWorld announced Monday that their San Diego location will be stopping their Orca shows, one of the many sea life shows at the aquatic amusement park. Over the years, many people have protested the domesticity of the animals and supposedly inhuman treatment of the creatures. There has been no news on the San Antonio and Orlando locations.
I think this is a nice move forward for SeaWorld, I know that they've been struggling with many protesters about whether or not their treatment of the animals are humane. In this situation, I'm not sure about SeaWorld's treatment of the animals, I find that it's one of those things where you can't completely believe what anyone has to say until you see the conditions for yourself. SeaWorld could be treating the animals cruelly but the skeptics could also be protesting for no reason but I can't state my own opinion on the subject until I see the conditions myself. I think that this kind of relates to when the Native Americans domesticated the horses that the Spaniards brought over with them when they conquered Mexico and South America.

There could be a possibility of cruelty behind the scenes; but even if there isn't, the orcas have been in captivity for too long. I think the time to free them has come.
